Hi! I am Jessica Oswald and I am a recent graduate from the Cleveland Institute of Art. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with a major in Photography. I graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 2013, and I am currently living in Cortland, Ohio.
My photography is based around documenting domestic life through the language of femininity and nostalgia. I shoot photos to document my own family with both digital and film photography, but I also collect photo albums and photos from other families. Learning about my own families history has always sparked an interest in me. This involves looking at physical photos and scanning negatives, but also the physical objects that has been past down through generations. I am interested in combining photography and craft by making albums and books of these photo documentation. I use flowers, cloth, and the aesthetic of old family snapshots to speak to this kind of femininity, domestic craft, and nostalgia.
